If you are in Mt. Pleasant, hungry for Mexican, and facing Margaritta's -- TURN AROUND and look for the Taco Bell sign. Seriously. I am giving this place 2 stars because I reserve 1 star ratings for horrific experiences (bugs/hair in food, sickness etc). But don't let the 2 stars fool you into thinking this place is on any level, acceptable. We went here as a change of pace (we usually hit China Buffet a few doors down when in the area). We should have turned around and walked out when it took 5 minutes for somebody to notice us at the hostess podium (no, they weren't busy -- maybe 3 tables out of 20 were occupied). Not wanting to be "those people" we waited. Finally get seated and our drink order is taken. 10 minutes later (timed), a waitress rolls over and says "We're out of Diet Pepsi, what can I get you instead?". We should taken this clue and left. Nope, still don't want to be those people. We say water. 10 after that the waitress comes back with Diet Pepsi and says "Oh, we decided to change the canister since other people asked for Diet Pepsi". Um, WHAT?! Should have left -- instead, I ask "is it going to take this long to get our food, we've been here a half out and nobody has taken our order". She just says "No". We really should have left. But we order instead. Food came out 15 minutes later. Let me just tell you, I've eaten at all kinds of Mexican place all over the place, this is by far the worst food experience I've had at one. I got the chile poblanos - the flavor here was ok. They use decent queso that wasn't super salty and the pepper (while cooked within a centimeter of its life) had a nice flavor -- but the whole thing was a mushy mess. I don't know when this pepper was fried but if I wagered a guess, I would say the day before and then reheated in microwave with the sauce. Speaking of... the "brown sauce" was identical to the "enchilada sauce" on my kid's food. My rice was mushy, re-fried beans were most definitely from a can. I took a bite of each and stopped. Not worth the calorie waste. My daughter got the enchilada plate, she ate her rice -- refused to eat the enchilada or beans (I make both at home frequently and she loves them). My husband got something called a chicken fajita quesadilla. The chicken was dry and the tortilla was mushy on the underside because it was laying on top of his "side" of re-fried beans. Bill was 35 dollars and I totally feel ripped off. They kept asking if we wanted to go boxes and we kept saying no. Had they asked one more time I would have told them "No, because I love my dog." Anyway, avoid.

We really like Margaritta's Mexican Restaurant. We ALWAYS get very friendly and fast service. The food is good, and never takes long to be delivered to the table. We never have to wait for drink or chip/salsa refills. The atmosphere is nice and clean.

Giving this place two stars is probably the most benevolent thing that Ill do this month. I ordered a margarita which was 98% triple sec and so incredibly artificially sweet that it was sickening. Next up, steak fajitas. I requested medium for the cooking temperature; what arrived was a sizzling plate of tough unflavored beef on a bed of undercooked peppers and onions. I asked the server if there was anything that she had to add some flavor to my meal, she suggested hot sauce. Good idea! Like the previous reviewer said, if you want Mexican food, head to Taco Bell.

3.5 stars I have loved Margaritta's for a long time. To start from the top, the chips and salsa are great. It's not a chunky salsa, which is to my liking. The chips are crisp and refills are always around the corner. The chile rellano is tasty, but the pepper is almost nonexistent. It's basically a mound of meat and cheese, which is not bad. I love the chicken and cheese quesadilla. It's got juicy chicken, flavorful cheese, and a crispy tortilla--the bottom can get mushy if you let it sit in the juices long enough. They sometimes do fried ice cream, which is a nice treat. Nothing here is spicy, so just know that going in. All of my experiences here used to be great, but lately the service has slowed and the food just doesn't seem *quite* as flavored. If you're served by a member of the family, you will have a good experience. You can tell they have a lot of pride about what the do and what they've created. If you get one of the other high school kids, well, what do you really expect?

I've been to Margaritta's several times and have always had good luck. The restaurant is clean. Staff are friendly and service fast. The food is good also. I mean, let's be honest, this is a small Mexican restaurant is a small town. It's not going to be authentic Mexican cuisine by any means, but I've always enjoyed it just the same.

Wasn't very authentic all the workers were American but food was delicious! You get very big servings.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
